Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut have all been given the icon’s films to watch — as an assignment before the shoot

Vishal Bhardwaj’s dream project Rangoon, a biopic on actress and stuntwoman Mary Evans Wadia, popularly known as Fearless Nadia goes on floors next week. Even before shooting the film, Vishal has done what no other director could’ve so far — brought Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan to act together. Since both the actors have had big hits with Vishal (Kaminey and Omkara respectively) neither of the two could turn down the offer. Kangana Ranaut plays Nadia in the film and Saif’s character shows shades of grey much like Landga Tyagi (Omkara). The film is set against the backdrop of World War 2.
Vishal wanted the actors to get a real sense of the era, so he made all three actors watch footage from Wadia’s films. “They aren’t expected to watch it together of course, but Vishal is very particular about each of them watching the films to get an idea of the time and the person that she was,” says a source.
Apart from watching Wadia’s work, Kangana also trained in horse riding. “She wants to make sure she looks the part and is leaving no stone unturned while achieving it,” added the source.
