Has Sujoy Ghosh signed Vidya Balan, Aishwarya for the same role?

Ghosh had been approaching multiple actresses who turned down his offer
Sujoy Ghosh had been unable to rope in a female lead for his next film for the longest time. Despite the blockbuster that Kahaani proved to be, Ghosh had been approaching multiple actresses who turned down his offer. First it was Vidya Balan, then Kangana Ranaut and then Kareena Kapoor who refused to be part of Ghosh’s next film, which is based on the true story of a police officer named Durga Rani. The reason for them turning down the project is apparently the fact that the character has a 14-year-old daughter and none of the actresses wanted to be shown as a mother of a teenager on screen.
The director’s woes ended —or so he thought — when Aishwarya Rai agreed to take on the role. After all, she did play a mother in her comeback film Jazbaa. But it seems Sujoy is met with a different predicament now. Says a source, “Vidya and Sujoy met at an eatery and after exchanging initial greetings, the topic of Durga Rani came up again. This time, Vidya told him that she would play the part. Kahaani remains her last good film as Humari Adhuri Kahaani didn’t add much to her career.” But if Sujoy accommodates Vidya in Durga Rani, he will have a lot of explaining to do to Aishwarya when she returns from Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil shoot in mid-November.
