Saradha scam case: CBI to move higher court against Madan Mitra's bail

A judge of Alipore court granted bail to Mitra, who had been under arrest for over ten months

Kolkata: CBI Special Crime Branch, which is probing Saradha ponzi scheme scam, on Saturday said it will move a higher court against the bail granted to West Bengal minister Madan Mitra, who was arrested by the investigating agency.

"We will move the higher court praying for Mitra's bail cancellation," the investigation officer dealing with the case told PTI.

The officer said CBI would move the higher court next week.

Asked to elaborate, the officer, who was not present in the court hearing today as he was out of station said "I have just landed".

"The Saradha probe had reached an advanced stage and Mitra getting bail at this juncture would have the potential to jeopardise the probe process," he added.

In the supplementary chargesheet submitted by CBI in the court, the investigating agency had named Madan Mitra as one of the beneficiaries in the Saradha case.

A judge of Alipore court today granted bail to Mitra, who had been under arrest for over ten months.
