DMK leader MK Stalin promises Lokayukta, new laws

Stalin also promised to waive educational loan and provide loans at low interest rate for students
Salem: The DMK leader M.K. Stalin has promised to set up a Lokayukta to root out corruption and a law to make it mandatory for elected representatives to meet the public once in 15 days in Tamil Nadu if his party is voted back to power in the state.
If elected representatives fail to meet the public once a fortnight they would be removed from their posts through a new legislation, Stalin assured. Besides, a new law would be brought in for delivering public service at the doorsteps of the people, he said.
Stalin was on a two-day tour of Salem on Tuesday for his third phase of campaign under Namakku Naame Vidiyal Meetpu programme. He interacted with students at a meeting at Shankar Nagar in Kumarasamy Patti near Salem. Responding to students’ queries, he said, “If the DMK comes to power, the first order would be signed for implementing total prohibition in the state. The second would be for bringing Lokayukta, which is already implemented in 18 states.”
Instead of people approaching politicians the trend has changed to politicians reaching out to the people. The elected representatives should meet the public once in 15 days to redress their grievances. Legislation would be brought in by the DMK for removing those people's representatives who do not meet the public and also to elect new representative.”
He also promised to waive educational loan and provide loans at low interest rate for students. "Steps would be taken for opening of more private industries to provide job opportunities,” he added.
Stalin also asserted that all the welfare schemes implemented by the AIADMK government would be continued in the DMK regime too and the DMK will not cripple them as done by the AIADMK government, which gave up all the welfare schemes brought during the DMK regime. He also guaranteed the differently abled persons for executing various welfare schemes for them.
During his campaign, he met the representatives of traders associations in Salem, lorry owners association and the silver jewellery manufacturers in the region and received their petitions.
