Health services for Ayyappa devotees

Proper transportation facility to shift victims of stampede, injuries, heart attack, head injuries
Chennai: Devotees visiting Sabarimala now need not harbour any apprehensions about their health as JIPMER will ensure medical services to them through a telemedicine centre.
A team of experts, led by JIPMER director Prof Dr Subhash Chandra Parija, visited the site for telemedicine at Sabarimala and interacted with district headquarters medical officer and officials and inspected various places between Pamba hospital to Sannidhanam health centre near Ayyappa temple where telemedicine infrastructure will be setup.
The director suggested various emergency measures to be kept ready before teleconsultation is taken over by specialists from JIPMER. He also suggested that besides ISRO telemedicine connectivity, other alternate connectivity like NKN (national knowledge network) or BSNL network might be kept ready as good BSNL network was available at the hill and was tested through televideo conferencing from various places on the hills (spread over four Kilometers) to JIPMER, Puducherry.
Proper transportation facility to shift victims of stampede, injuries, heart attack, head injuries, etc, from the accident site to telemedicine centre, carrying out regular disaster management drills, ensuring one paramedical staff with mobile resuscitation kit every 500 meter to 1 km to resuscitate victims before transporting to telemedicine centre, providing paramedical staff with smartphones to show victims online to tele-medicine centers before shifting to telemedicine centre, were other suggestions.
