Intercity train timings advanced to joy of commuters

Railways address the long time grievances of office goers from other districts
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Railways has addressed the long time grievance of office goers from other districts by advancing Intercity Express timing.
The train now mostly reaches Thiruvananthapuram Central around 9.30 am. Office goers who come from areas as far as Kayamkulam used to board the Malabar Express as early as 6 am and end their journey between 9.05 am and 10 am depending on the delay.
However, from October 1, the Intercity has started reaching Kayamkulam around 7 am, and it reaches city around 9.30 am or the same time as that of Malabar. It has positively impacted the attendance in most government offices.
Though all these trains ended journey at Thiruvananthapuram late Friday morning, the commuters said the Railways has intentionally or unintentionally set things right this month.
"The Jayanthi Janatha and Vanchinad reach Kottayam around the same time by 6.15 am most of the days. Vanchinad is now given the green signal first, and office goers can board this and reach Kayamkulam first. All these office-goers on Vanchinad can get down at Kayamkulam and join a larger group to board the Intercity. It has sorted out the travel issues, but the Intercity needs more compartments," a passenger said.
