Watch: Fish comes 'alive' after being served in sweet and sour sauce

Don't worry, there's a perfectly scientific explanation for this

Imagine going to restaurant for having some seafood and the fish served to you suddenly comes ‘alive’! A video has surfaced featuring a fish that starts moving AFTER being cooked and served in sweet and sour sauce, according to a report in the Mirror. Freakishly, the fish’s head was still attached to its fins as they continued to flap at the edge of the plate.

The Daily Mail reports that the incident happened at a restaurant in the Yuexiu District of China's Guangzhou Province. In reality though, the fish in the video is not a ‘zombie’ as one would think, there’s a perfectly biological explanation as to why animals might move after they are dead.

The muscle cells in freshly dead animals are still capable of receiving electrical commands and also have enough chemical energy to contract when they come in contact with a stimulus. In this case, the fish started moving because of an automatic reaction to sodium chloride, which is better than table salt, NPR reports.
