C T Ravi condemns beef consumption

Mr. Ravi criticised Mr Dinesh Amin Mattu for eating beef at a protest rally

BENGALURU: Coming down heavily on Chief Minister’s media adviser Dinesh Amin Mattu for consuming beef at a protest rally, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson and former minister C.T. Ravi advised the state government to appoint Mr. Mattu as head of “beef-eating commission.”

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Ravi criticised Mr Dinesh Amin Mattu for eating beef at a protest rally and stated that it was against the Constitution under the anti-cow slaughter Act.

Being a representative of the state government Mr Dinesh Amin Mattu acted against the state government, he said adding that though the media adviser was drawing salary from the state government, he was instigating people to eat beef.

Mr. Ravi said that the decision of the state cabinet to scrap the cattle protection commission was undemocratic and unconstitutional, but the Chief Minister could constitute a beef-eating commission and appoint Mr. Dinesh Amin Mattu as its president and professor Siddaramaiah as its director. Mr. Mattu was capable to give enough publicity in the state to eat beef and advise people to do so.

Mr Ravi said that the Congress government had already lost its moral right to seek votes on the basis of development activities in the state.

Taking a dig at home minister K.J. George for his statement on the recent gang-rape in the city, Mr. Ravi said that such a statement showed that the minister was most irresponsible and insensitive.
