Asaduddin Owaisi slams UN move by Azam Khan

He also demanded PM to condemn the incident and condole the family

Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday opposed Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan’s move to take the Dadri incident to the United Nations, claiming that the incident was an internal matter of India and Muslims could never fight with the country.

While talking to reporters at the party’s head quarters, Mr Owaisi said, “If Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav supports Mr Khan’s statement, the SP government in Uttar Pradesh should resign and President's Rule should be imposed."

Maintaining that he had no complaints against Mr Azam Khan, the MIM chief pointed out: “What message is the Samajwadi Party giving? I am asking Mulayam Singh Yadav, who has served as the country’s defence minister, what is his view on the statement made by a senior leader of his party?”

While demanding that Mr Mulayam Singh respond to Mr Khan’s statement, the Hyderabad MP asked the former whether he thought that his Samajwadi Party couldn’t run the government in Uttar Pradesh. If so, why did he take an oath on the Constitution?

Reacting to the statement of BJP leader Mr Sushil Kumar Modi promising a ban on beef in Bihar, Mr Owaisi reminded that cow slaughter was banned in Bihar in 1955 and the statement of the BJP leader was a clear indication that they were not bothered about development, but wanted to raise such issues just to get votes.

Mr Owaisi said, “The people of Bihar have nothing to do with beef ban or cow slaughter. Why debate cow slaughter? Talk about human beings. They expect development, drinking water and eradication of poverty, especially in Seemanchal, which is the most backward region." Responding to the statement of finance minister Arun Jaitley that incidents like the one at Dadri hurt India’s image, the MP said, “The question is not of image but of our morals and moral duty.”

Recalling the statements of the Union cultural minister and finance minister on the Dadri incident, he said, “One minister says it was an accident and another says it hurts the country’s image. The Cabinet should speak in one voice. Start respecting human life, the image of the country will automatically improve in the world.”
Mr Owaisi also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should break his silence, condemn the Dadri incident and condole the family.
