Karan Johar, Bollywood ambassador to Pakistan

Looks like Dharma has done more for cross-border dosti than the governments

Producer Karan Johar has been on a hunt for fresh talent and faces from across the border

Not that there is anything wrong in bringing actors from any part of the world but Karan Johar, who has largely worked with indigenous talent, is now suddenly tracking down Pakistani actors.

Johar convinced Fawad Khan to ditch Anil and Sonam Kapoor’s Battle Of Bittora (an offer they made to Fawad after he found instant stardom in India with the Kapoors’ Khubsoorat) to do a film ironically entitled Kapoor & Sons for Karan Johar’s Dharma Production.

Fawad we now hear, is very much a part of Dharma Productions and raring to go. “Fawad hangs around Karan Johar’s office and socialises with the other Dharma actors like Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. It is a lie that he had to give up Battle Of Bittora because of the intimate scenes. There are no such scenes in the film,” says a source.

And now comes news of another young handsome Pakistani actor Imran Abbas catching Karan’s fancy. The actor from Muzaffar Ali’s fiasco Umrao Jaan plays a role in Karan Johar’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushqil.

Looks like Dharma has done more for cross-border dosti than what the governments have over the past several years!
