Election Commission responsible for voters list, don’t blame us: KT Rama Rao

Mr Rama Rao said that the Opposition was bent upon raking up non-issues ever since the TRS came to power in TS
Hyderabad: Terming the Opposition’s charge of a conspiracy in deletion of voters from the GHMC as “absurd”, Information Technology minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday said “everyone” knew that there were more names on the voters’ list than actual voters in Hyderabad.
Addressing reporters at the Telangana Bhavan on the eve of a few leaders from the TD and Congress joining the TRS, Mr Rama Rao said that the Opposition was bent upon raking up non-issues ever since the TRS came to power in TS.
“There are only 62 lakh voters in the GHMC, but over 80 lakh on the voters’ list. This means that ineligible, bogus, double entry voters exist in the city. How can we ignore this fact and not take rectification measures? How is the government responsible for deletion of voters’ names when the entire exercise is conducted by the Election Commission?” he asked.
Referring to Opposition criticism that TRS government has made it a policy to harass Seemandhra voters settled in the city, Mr Rama Rao said, “This is another baseless allegation. I ask the Opposition if a single such incident took place during our 15-month rule. Hyderabad is known for all people of all religions, regions, and languages co-existing. Everyone lives happily here, and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is known for taking everyone along.”
