NRI Hindus often eat beef: Lalu Prasad Yadav

‘Eating beef is bad for health and cultured people don’t eat it’ - Lalu hastily added

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav generated a new controversy on Saturday when he said Hindus travelling or living abroad eat beef. Several BJP leaders and party workers threatened to launch a massive protest on the issue and demanded that he apologise immediately.

Mr Lalu Yadav, while speaking on the issue, had said, “The BJP is trying to communalise the issue by trying to impose a ban on beef in this country. Eating beef is not an issue for those who frequently travel abroad, and for them meat is meat.”

But what instigated BJP leaders was when Mr Yadav said, “What do you think, Hindus don’t eat beef? They, too, eat beef, especially when they go abroad.” Mr Yadav made this comment after the nomination of his younger son, Tejaswi Yadav, in Hajipur.

However, quick to realise that his comments would land him in trouble, Mr Lalu Yadav hastily added, “Eating beef is bad for health and cultured people don’t eat it.” Union minister Giriraj Singh said, “Lalu must apologise for his comments.
