Obama has voiced frustration at the lack of progress in the US Congress on gun control

Washington: US President Barack Obama will deliver a statement at 2220 GMT from the White House after a shooting at a community college in Oregon left up to 10 people dead.

A 20-year-old gunman opened fire inside a classroom at Umpqua Community College in rural Roseburg, before being "neutralized" by police, authorities said. He was later confirmed dead.

Obama has repeatedly voiced frustration at the lack of progress in the US Congress on gun control, despite school shootings that have become a disturbing reality of American life.
