Natesan took Rs 100 crore on sly: VS Achuthanandan

He drops bombshell ahead of SNDP leader’s meeting with Modi
Alappuzha: On the eve of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan launched a frontal attack on him, saying he took Rs 100 crore in kickbacks for appointments at Sree Narayana institutions and stashed it away in Swiss banks.
Mr Achuthanandan was inaugurating an anti-communal seminar organised by CPM at Kanichukulangara, about 100 metres from Mr Natesan’s house, near here.
“He has taken Rs 25 to 40 lakh for each appointment”, alleged Mr Achuthanandan.
This applied only to corruption in colleges under SN Trust. He had collected money for appointments to SNDP Yogam schools and institutions.
Achuthanandan wondered whether Mr Natesan had appointed anybody from the Ezhava community to SN institutions without taking money.
“It goes into his pocket. Not a single paisa was utilised for the welfare of Ezhavas. Has he accounted this money and paid tax on it?
“When Modi said the money stashed away in Swiss banks would be brought back, he got jittery and started cozying up to Sangh Parivar,” he said.
Mr Achuthanandan said it was an insult to Sree Narayana Guru that Mr Natesan had named community institutions after him.
‘Prove it’
Challenging Mr Achuthanandan to prove the accusations, Mr Natesan said in Delhi that he would quit his posts if he could prove them.
He said not a single appointment had been made to the SN Trust colleges during the past three years.
“He blurts out what others had written. He's ready to do anything for survival. Even his party does not want him...he is like the ghost on the roadside. I am being polite by not disclosing how I had to comply with his many requests during happier times”, said Mr Natesan.
Mr Natesan’s son Thushar Vellappally, vice-president of the Yogam and chairman of its youth wing, said Achuthanandan was unfit to talk about the Yogam.
“If we have received bribes, why didn’t he order a probe while he was in power?” he asked.
