Newly-wed husband robbed by bride and her family in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: A young bride held her husband hostage in their house and decamped with cash and valuables kept in the house. The bride’s family members, who had come to meet her, helped her in the crime.

Uma Shankar was recently married to Neha and on Friday evening, his mother-in-law and brother-in-law came to visit them. The family had dinner together and the in-laws stayed back in Uma Shankar’s house.

Later in the night, Neha, her mother and brother tied Uma Shankar to the cot on which he was sleeping. Uma Shankar woke up and tried to resist but the three beat him up and gagged him.

Neha, her mother and brother then collected the money and valuables kept in the house and drove away in their jeep.

The matter came to light on Saturday when Uma Shankar’s brother, Shiv Shankar, came to see him and found Uma Shankar tied to the cot.

The brothers then approached the local police station and lodged an FIR against the accused and Uma Shankar who has been injured was admitted to a local hospital.

Police officials said that the matter was being investigated and a police team had been sent to the bride’s house for investigation but no one was found there.
