13 Malayalees missing in Mina

Kochi: One more person from Kerala has been reportedly killed in the stampede in Mina during the Haj pilgrimage. The dead has been identified as Abdul Khader a native of Puthukod in Palakkad district. Khader, working in Riyadh, has gone for the pilgrimage from there.

Unconfirmed reports said that 13 Haj pilgrims from Kerala are still missing following the stampede.

Laila Beevi, a 50-year-old lady belonging to Thifil Manzil, Pezhumoodu near Kadakkal in Kollam district is missing after the tragedy in Mina.

Laila Beevi and husband Abdul Kalam were together to perform the Haj. They had gone to pilgrimage accompanied by their son Sulfikar working in Saudi Arabia.

After the stampede, Abdul Kalam reported at the Haj camp and Sulfikar was admitted to a hospital with injury, but Laila Beevi is still missing.

Sajeev Usman, 46, and his wife Shini 35 from Karukacheril near Athira-mpuzha in Kottayam district are listed amongst the missing people from Kerala.

The couple working in Riyadh for many years went for the pilgrimage with their two children and the family of Sajeev’s brother Shukkur Usman.

The children and family of Shukkur Usman are reportedly safe. Few other persons from Kerala found missing includes Muneer and his wife Shabinas and their two-year-old son Fayaz.

They belong to Kallampara in Feroke. Others in the missing list are Sameer, Shameem Chekidapurath, Kallachi Abdu Rehman (Malappuram district) , Nabeesu and Mariyam from Koduvally and Aboobacker from Thikkody (Kozhikode district) and Cheriyakutty of Unniyal near Tirur.
