South Africa are formidable, says Rayudu

Speaking after the morning training session, Ambati Rayudu revealed
Bengaluru: The Indian camp ahead of their home series against South Africa kicked into high great the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as the Indian contingent had their first outdoor session on Thursday. Following three days of indoor training with focus on conditioning and fitness of the players, the squad took to the nets to hone the technical side of their game.
Speaking after the morning training session, Ambati Rayudu, a key cog in the middle order in the shorter formats of the game, revealed: “We had a good conditioning camp for the last three days and today we started playing and focusing on our skill work,” said the talented Rayudu.
“It was a good session. There are always a few areas that the coaches point out and we are all trying to work on it.”
Asked if there was any specific area that he was concentrating on at the nets he replied: “Today I was just assessing my overall game. From tomorrow I shall concentrate on specifics.” Looking at the massive challenge ahead of them, Rayudu was quick to stress that the team was leaving no stone unturned in their preparation for the task ahead.
“South Africa are a formidable side and we are preparing ourselves for it very hard. Personally, I am working on a few things and hopefully, it will come good and I can do well,” said the 30-year-old.
Though Rayudu is not a shoo-in, in the playing XI in the ODIs, given that there is a tussle between him and Ajinkya Rahane for the middle order slot, the Baroda batsman is more than likely to gain the nod in the T20s, where his performance for Mumbai Indians in the IPL over the past eight seasons has been outstanding.
