Mumbai: The Sanatan Sanstha, which has hit national headlines of late due to its suspected involvement in the killing of Communist leader Govind Pansare, is very clear about its ultimate objective: The establishment of a “divine kingdom” right here in India. Towards this end, it would like to abrogate democracy and the present Constitution, and instead set up a kingdom with a constitution based on epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagwad Gita.
The kingdom would have a “varna” system of society organised hierarchically on the basis of caste. It would be a purely Hindu kingdom, with 30 per cent each of Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas and 10 per cent Shudras. A system of population control would be enforced.
These aims are laid out in a book, Setting Up God’s Kingdom written by the Sanatan Sanstha’s founder and leader, former hypnotherapist Dr. Jayant Athavale and his wife Kunda. On the Sanstha’s aims, spokesperson Abhay Var-tak hoped that the ‘Divine Kingdom’ would soon come into existence.
Also, emphasising spirituality as a base to everything, the Sanatan Sanstha has envisioned religious rule in the country that according to them is the best solution to “all ongoing problems”. The organisation in its literature claims that the current electoral system in the country which according to them has “no place in Indian culture”. Instead the party propagates a system — “God’s Kingdom” — that will provide all the “good energy in the world to the people”.
In the book, ‘Setting Up God’s Kingdom’ Spirituality : Volume 1, it has clearly indicated that the nation will be Hindu Rashtra and will not have any connection with Buddha, Jain, Shaiva, Vaishnav, Muslims and Christians. “The main aim of the Constitution would be loyalty towards religion and not protection of the nation. It would be based on Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shrimad Bhagwat Gita because this can only save our country and all other countries on the earth,” the Sanatan said in the book on page 119. It has also denied any kind of reservation or concessions in the proposed system.
