Radisson back in Kerala, acquires Dream

The Kochi property with 150 rooms in the five star category will be part of the Raddison Blu chain

KOCHI: Luxury hotel chain Radisson which left Kerala last decade exiting its Kumarakom property is making a comeback to the state acquiring Dream Hotel in Kochi.

The Kochi property with 150 rooms in the five star category will be part of the Raddison Blu chain, sources familiar with the development said.

The sources said the deal to take over Dream, independently owned and operated by the New York-based Hampshire Hotels Management, has been finalised though the financials are not immediately known.

“The Kochi property which started functioning in 2009 will move to the new tag by October,” they said. The Hampshire Hotels Management founded by Sant Singh Chatwal in 1986 has properties in India, US and Thailand. The group owns proprietary brands such as Dream, The Time and Night.

Radisson Blu, formerly Radisson SAS, is the super luxury brand for Radisson Hotels operating mainly outside the United States, including Europe, Africa and Asia. The hotels are being operated by Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
