Dr G Parameshwar: Not averse to continue as KPCC chief

The KPCC president said he believed that nothing was permanent

BENGALURU: KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar, on Saturday hinted that he was not averse to the idea of continuing as state unit chief for some more time.

He told the media at the KPCC office here: “I have always enjoyed my stint as PCC president as I will be completing five years in this same position on October 29. This post has taught me several lessons and posed many challenges which helped me to be a better person. Therefore, how can I ever develop lack of concern for party building work in the state? In last five years, I never felt boredom. It is most challenging journey so far and I continue to enjoy it.” He, however, added that he was not done yet in this position and if he ever felt it he would have called it quits almost two and half years ago.

The KPCC president said he believed that nothing was permanent. “I seriously do not know how long my tenure is as the AICC's Jaipur session passed resolution stating that PCC president’s tenure must be five years.

Subsequently, it was amended and declared that PCC president's tenure would be three years. So, I really do not know how long I will be in this position. But, as long as am in this position, I continue to enjoy every bit of it. The decision on whether to continue in the same position or not or whether I should take any other responsibility depends on the party high command,” he added.

Responding to a question on whether he would like to be appointed the deputy chief minister, Dr Parameshwar reiterated that no politician was averse to be in power.

“I am a politician and am inclined to remain in power. But, issues like whether the state should have post like DCM or when the cabinet expansion should take place are always decided in New Delhi after discussing with the Chief Minister concerned and not in front of media,” he added.

He admitted that there was pressure on him as well as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to carry out a cabinet reshuffle as many legislators were thronging his house as well as that of the Chief Minister.
