Meerut: About 22 nursing students were rushed to the hospital and over 50 of them took ill after Uttar Pradesh police, during a mock drill, fired three tear gas shells, according to reports.
The gas shells landed in the girls’ hostel of the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College (LLRMMC) in Meerut.
Most of girls are still recovering in the hospital’s emergency ward, but are out of danger.
The accident happened when police personnel deployed at the medical college were conducting a riot control mock drill on the ground.
