Visaranai makes Kollywood proud

Vetrimaaran’s off beat flick Visaranai was selected to screen at the 72nd Venice Film Festival
Vetrimaaran’s off beat flick Visaranai was selected to screen at the 72nd Venice Film Festival some time back. The director, ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh and Samuthirakani, who are part of the film’s cast, attended the week long festival recently.
The movie has bagged ‘Cinema for Human Rights’ award at the event and received a standing ovation from the audience. Interestingly, the movie was the first Tamil film to be screened under a special category in the Film Festival. Visaranai was jointly produced by Vetrimaaran and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.
It is to be noted that both of them came together to produce Kaakka Muttai which also won several recognitions. The film based on a novel has Anandhi playing the female lead. Lyca Productions has bagged the worldwide distribution rights of the movie.
