KOCHI: Film actor-director Sidharth Bharathan (31), son of actor KPAC Lalitha and the late Bharathan, film director, was seriously injured in a car accident here early on Saturday.
He suffered head injuries when his car, going from Vytilla to Tripunithura, lost control and hit a roadside wall near Chambakkara.
Hearing the noise of the collision around 2 a.m., local residents rushed to the spot and found Sidharth trapped inside the badly-mangled car.
They took him out by breaking open the car and rushed him to the Medical Trust Hospital. It is believed that Sidharth slept off while driving. Police are investigating to find out the exact reasons for the accident.
"His skull is broken and he has fractures in many parts of the body. We have not been able to stop bleeding and hence surgery is not possible right now. He will be under observation for the next 48 hours,” hospital sources said.
According to sources close to Sidharth, a tyre burst must have led to the incident. Sidharth was on his way to an apartment at Tripunithura after discussions on a new movie.
