BJP ministers in Cabinet face heat

Naidu has been unhappy with their performance and has expressed open displeasure
Vijayawada: All is not hunky-dory for the two BJP ministers in the Telugu Desam government. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been unhappy with their performance and has expressed open displeasure.
While endowments minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao has been facing fire for quite some time, Dr Kamineni Srinivas, though a bit better placed, has invited wrath for underperformance of his medical and health ministry, according to informed sources.
It is learnt that Mr Manikyala Rao has reportedly complained to the BJP Central leadership about the treatment meted out to him. Even though the Mahapushkaralu comes under his department, he was totally sidelined.
Dr Srinivas’ story is rather different. For different reasons, he was able to move with the top brass of the TD government, and even gave the impression of being a TD man. But this has not helped him get into the good books of Mr Naidu, sources said.
Failure to provide ambulances at all ghats in Rajahmundry when the stampede took place, the rat-bite death at the Government General Hospital at Guntur has affected his ratings.
As Mr Naidu is contemplating a rejig of the Cabinet, a possible change of BJP faces has also been discussed. The CM, who has recently got reports of performance of all the ministers, may ask BJP’s top leaders to change at least one of its candidates, sources said.
The party has four MLAs in the Assembly, the two others being P. Vishnu Kumar Raju (Visakha North) and Akula Satyanarayana (Rajahmundry city). As the CM wants to induct ‘performers’ in the revamp, Mr Vishnu Kumar Raju has a fair chance, sources said.
