Hollywood actor Elijah Wood and his DJing crew Zach Cowie and DJ Fitz were in town on Saturday to spin some of their favourite tunes, and the city certainly seemed to be more excited to see their favourite hobbit from the Lord Of The Rings movies turn DJ for the night, than the music itself.
Elijah has played around the world with Zach as DJ act Wooden Wisdom. And he has also teamed up with Fitz often, who calls their partnership “organic”.
“Zach and I have worked with different artistes over the years, like indie rock bands as tour managers, handling logistics, etc.,” Fitz says, “Zach knew Elijah as they play together and so when they came to Europe we hooked up naturally. It’s kind of an organic relationship, there was no real profound, deep meaning moment (laughs).”
While people mostly know Elijah as an actor, he says that DJing has always fascinated him. “There was no real switch. I’ve been in love with music since I was very young,” Elijah says, “And as far as being a DJ is concerned, it was just... meeting with a mixer. “The notion of cross-fading one song into another on a loud sound system in front of a lot of people when I was 19 was a very satisfying feeling, and so I just started doing it for fun.”
