New Delhi: With the Sangh’s shadow virtually spreading all over, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday joined the RSS’ appraisal of his government. Earlier, senior government ministers briefed the RSS high command and made presentations. The RSS, apparently “satisfied” with the performance of the PM and his team, patted the government on the back, saying it was “moving in the right direction”. The RSS also rejected the Congress charge of “remote-controlling” the Modi government.
Pandavas, Kauravas also had talks: RSS
Apart from getting a pat from the RSS for “moving in the right direction, in a significant message, the RSS backed the government’s bid to engage Pakistan in talks, saying, “Even Pandavs and Kauravs had to talk with each other.”
Mr Modi also got approval from the RSS for his overtures to the Saarc countries for meaningful engagements. “Several countries like Nepal, Bhutan and also Pakistan are neighbours. They are like part of one body and are brothers. Even Kauravas and Pandavas had to talk,” RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale told reporters at the end of the three-day conclave of the RSS and affiliated bodies, that was held in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area.
The PM joined Cabinet colleagues Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Manohar Parrikar and others in briefing the conclave, besides taking up suggestions from participants. Mr Modi told the conclave that his government was taking many decisions which would begin to show results in the near future.
Even while participants at the conclave reminded and urged ministers in the Modi Cabinet to stay alive to core Hindutva ideas, the RSS declared on Friday that it would be “patient” on the issue of construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The RSS had a word of advice for the Modi government amid the volatility in the present world economy, and said that the government should build an “indigenous economic model”.
We are not remote control, claims RSS
After a three-day “coordination” meeting with the top brass of the government and the BJP, the RSS on Friday said the Modi government was moving in the right direction with commitment and dedication and rejected criticism that it was acting like a “remote control”.
The Sangh Parivar’s founthead said it was not reviewing the government's performance but was only giving “inputs” to ministers, who are swayamsevaks, and it has a right to do so. RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said, “The RSS is not an illegal organisation... and we have all the right to question ministers.”
