Hyderabad: Boy unconscious after beaten up by teacher

No external injuries reported on body, say docs

Hyderabad: An 11-year-old Class VI student of Krishnaveni Talent School, Langer Houz, was admitted to a hospital on Thursday when he lost consciousness after being hit by his teacher. Ms Preeti Yadav, mother of the boy, Tanish Yadav, said, “On Thursday evening, the school authorities called us and said that our son had fallen unconscious, but did not give any reason. We first took him to Golconda Hospital where he regained consciousness. He told us that he had been hit by his teacher Sudheer, after which he fell unconscious. After that the school authorities confessed that he had become unconscious after being beaten.”

The boy was shifted to Sri Sai Ram Hospital in Langer House on Thursday evening and is still admitted there. Doctors in the hospital said that the boy did not have any external injuries though he complained of pain in his back. To check for internal injuries, an X-ray and MRI scan was done.

The boy’s mother said, “He is being given pain killers, but when the effect wears off, the pain comes back. He is unable to walk properly without support due to the pain.” Family members of the boy lodged a complaint at the Langer Houz police station and the police took the boy’s statement on Friday evening.

The boy’s family complained that on Thursday evening, a single representative of the school came to visit Tanish in hospital. It was only on Friday that the principal of the school visited the boy, when he was being taken for an MRI.

A relative of Tanish said, "On Thursday night we were asked by the school authorities to pay the hospital bills stating that they would reimburse the money later. We protested and later they agreed to pay the bill."
