Watch: Acid-attack survivor’s makeup tutorial with a social message

What initially starts like a simple beauty tutorial ends with an important message for the entire society. Reshma was allegedly attacked by her brother-in-law while she was visiting Northern India to take her exam in 2014. The sulphuric acid caused her to lose her left eye while her right eye is still partially closed and infected.

The video begins with Reshma giving advice on how to get the perfect red lips by first exfoliating them with a toothbrush, applying moisturising lip balm and a liner to define them.

She then goes on to say that in India, beauty products like these are just as easy to obtain as concentrated acid. Reshma urges viewers to sign the Make Love Not Scars petition that calls for a ban on the over-the-counter sale of acid in India.
