Microsoft releases Skype 6.0 for Android and iOS

Microsoft has made minor changes in the user interface of Skype

Microsoft has released an update for Skype called Skype 6.0 for Android and iOS. According to the Verge, the users interface has been updated in the new version. The app now focuses on being more natural and intuitive,

The company is bringing the iOS style of navigation. Now the buttons at the bottom of the app to clearly mark out sections and Microsoft has done the same on the Android version.There are swipe gestures on the iOS version to allow the users to make quick calls or mute and delete conversations.

The interface is largely the same within the chats, with an attachment icon to allow the users to add photos, location and video messages to a conversation.

Key features:

  • Floating action button: The floating action button makes it incredibly simple to start a new conversation, whether you’re starting a video call, audio call, chat, or sending a video message.
  • Enhanced search: With an upgraded search you can now find your most important contacts and conversations much faster.
  • Improved messaging: It’s now quicker to see how many unread messages you have. It is also easier to identify what you’ve read and what you haven’t.
  • Enhanced search: You can use the new recents tab to search your messages and find contacts and groups.
  • Skype now on iPad: Microsoft has improved Skype messaging for iPad as well. You can share your location, send large emoticons, see web link previews and easily send and receive photos. Skype for iPad also helps you stay in touch with your groups – now start a group chat or a group voice call straight from your iPad.

Also, Microsoft is working on a new Skype app for Windows 10 Mobile.
