Panel reviews Andhra University's vacant posts

There are presently 549 posts lying vacant in the University
Visakhapatnam: A special committee, constituted by the State government to deal with various issues related to filling of posts lying vacant in the Andhra University, had visited the university on Thursday. Under the chairmanship of Prof. Raghavulu, the committee, comprising of Prof. Visweswara Rao, Prof. Rama Rao and Prof. Venkaiah, had specially met with University Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.S.N. Raju.
Prof. Raju furnished complete details as to the vacant posts, importance of filling those posts and administration of new courses and curricula. Speaking on this occasion, Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao said that there are presently 549 posts lying vacant in the University and explained that the government had already permitted to fill 506 posts.
Later, the committee had convened another round of meeting with principals of colleges in the university. During their interaction with the principals, the committee members enquired about the regular and self-finance courses offered by the University.
They also showed an interest in knowing about the courses of Andhra University Distance Education Centre. Prof. Raghavulu, chairman of the committee, said that they make sure to fill the vacant posts, which can upgrade the standards of this elite University. Later, the vice-chancellor Prof. G.S.N. Raju felicitated the committee members. AU Rector E.A. Narayana, Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao, Deans, Principals of University colleges and others were present during the committee visit in the university.
