Hyderabad: In an attempt to generate revenue out of debris, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is procuring vehicles that would separate sand, stones and boulders. It will be put to sale.

“In that regard, the GHMC is in the final stage in selecting agencies that have been segregating debris in a scientific manner. Units have to be established in the city to segregate sand, stone and steel separately. This is as part of the Swachh Hyderabad initiative. A committee has begun arrangements for purchase of 12 litre capacity dust bins, each costing Rs 65.70. About 2,500 applications were called for driver cum owner for auto tippers, for which about 5,000 members have applied. In a couple of months all the eligible applicants will be given bank loans and subsidies. Sweeping the main roads causes a lot of inconvenience with traffic movement problems and frequent accidents. For safety of sanitation workers GHMC has purchased 18 sweeping machines,” said the commissioner GHMC.

Meanwhile, GHMC to enhance the existing advertisement tax, the advertisement policy will be reviewed soon.
