Rs 100 cr industrial complex to come up in Guindy
Chennai: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday said a new policy will be formulated to stimulate growth of micro, small and medium enterprises and an international study will be undertaken to make them internationally competitive.
“The new policy will be formulated to make the state the MSME capital of the Asia,” Jayalalithaa said, making a suo motu statement in the Assembly.
Apart from finding solutions to the challenges faced by MSMEs, the policy will also help in achieving the goal of Vision 2023 with ease, the CM added.
The study will evaluate the present competitiveness of the MSMEs vis-a-vis such global competitors and help them achieve high growth, Jayalalithaa explained. She also announced the construction of a multi-storied industrial complex at a cost of Rs 100 crore in Guindy Industrial Estate to address the needs of the existing MSMEs there and solve the issue of paucity of land that is affecting the expansion of the estate there.
2 new revenue divisions: The CM also announced the creation of 16 new taluks and five revenue divisions, including Egmore and Tondiarpet to help people access services easily.
Creation of the additional revenue taluks and divisions will cost Rs 17.65 crore to the exchequer. Of the 16 taluks, one will be in Pallavaram. Coimbatore, Madurai and Virudhunagar districts will also get one new divisions each. With Monday’s expansion of the revenue structure, the numbers of taluks and divisions will increase to 285 and 85.
