Pen seller gets $15,000 in just three hours

Around $15,000 was raised in just three hours after a picture of a refugee, selling pens on a street in Beirut, with his daughter slumped over one shoulder, went viral.

The man was selling eight biros. Activist Gissur Simonarson, who opened an account #BuyPens, soon got a call from a person claiming he saw the pen seller around his house. Gissur, then soon got in touch with Abdul, and daughter Reem, who is four.
