TIRUNELVELI: The Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), though it has an alliance with the AIDMK, will never give up its core principles for electoral gain, said party founder-president Panruti T. Velmurugan. He also demanded that state government protect water bodies from the clutches of private companies and real estate tycoons.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Velmurugan stated that his party would hold a statewide agitation soon to save water bodies from illegal encroachments.
We are dead against permitting Coca Cola and Pepsi from drawing water from the Thamirabarani in Tirunelveli district,’ said the TVK chief. He also demanded the immediate cancellation of licences given to them at the Gangaikondan SIPCOT complex .
On the Patels’ upsurge for OBC tag in Gujarat, Velmurugan backed it but added, “their demand to scrap the reservation system if they are not included in the OBC category is not fair.”
