Aurangzeb Road in Lutyen’s Delhi will hence forth be known as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Road

NEW DELHI: Aurangzeb Road in Lutyen’s Delhi will hence forth be known as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Road with the New Delhi Municipal Council on Friday giving its nod in this regard.
Aurangzeb Road begins at the Taj Mansingh Hotel near India Gate and joins Safdarjung Road near the official residence of the Prime Minister.
Following the former President’s demise last month, BJP MP Maheish Girri had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider renaming Aurangzeb Road to correct “wrongs” of history and said it will be a fitting tribute to Kalam’s memory.
Mr Girri, later, tweeted his happiness over the NDMC’s decision.
