I am getting good opportunities: Lavanya Tripathi

Lavanya Tripathi talks about coming back after a long break and about acting with Nagarjuna and Ramya

After taking a long break, Lavanya Tripathi is busy with four films, with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy being the first one. “After Doosukelatha (2013) I took a long break as I wanted to work on my acting skills. It’s not that I didn’t get any offers…I was approached for many films…but I wasn’t in a hurry. I wanted to come back with the right film at the right time. I am lucky that I got good opportunities,” says Lavanya.

Talking about her character in Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy, she says, “I am an innocent girl, I also performed Kuchipudi for the film. I learnt the dance form before going for the shoot. I know Kathak, but the two forms are different,” says the actress.

Lavanya says that she is lucky that she is getting to play different characters. “When I wanted to take a break, I didn’t sign any films and when I wanted to come back, I was lucky that I was offered very good roles, which are different from each other,” she says.

Lavanya is also acting opposite Nagarjuna in his upcoming film Soggade Chinni Nayana. Was she offered the role because of her cameo in Manam? “I don’t know about that,” she says, adding, “But I am a big fan of Nagarjuna sir and I did Manam out of respect for Nag sir and his family. Maybe he liked it and offered me this film, I don’t know.”

“I am not a person who worries too much. During my break I had got many opportunities and people had said that I was mad not to do these films. But I wanted the break,” she says.
When pointed out that she might look like Nagarjuna’s daughter in the film, she says, “The promos of the film say otherwise. Nag sir is looking so young and I wear mostly saris in the film and we make a good pair. On the other hand, Nag sir is pairing up with Ramya madam and they too make an interesting pair,” she says.

Lavanya adds that it was great working with Ramya and Nagarjuna. “On the first day of the shoot, I got lengthy dialogues and I was preparing for it. Ramya madam was surprised and said that it was as if I was preparing for an IAS exam. Both were very encouraging on the sets,” she says.

Talking about her other co-star Naani, she says, “He always works like a newcomer. He prepares for his scenes as a fresh actor and he is a big inspiration for me.”

When asked how she prepares for a film, she says “I ask the director to narrate the whole story and then my character. It helps me when they shoot sad or happy scenes, as I know the story and accordingly I can prepare for it. And I also know what the other characters are doing,” says the actress.

Any calls from Bollywood? “I am not trying for Hindi films now. Even in future if I do Hindi films, I don’t want to leave Telugu cinema,” she says.

And though she wants to take another small break, she can’t do that as she is extremely busy. “My mother is not well and I want to be with her. But work is important and my mother understands that,” she says.
