Poonam Pandey’s Telugu film Malini & Co is releasing this Friday. In town for the promotions, the controversial actress says that it’s an action film with a terrorist backdrop. “It is something really different for me. I was in all these controversies and would only be seen in bikinis. This is the other side of it, where I am playing a good role. I am looking forward to people’s reactions because no one has seen me in this avatar,” says Poonam.
While everyone is expecting a lot of skin show in the film, Poonam says that the film is not all about that. “It’s not about sex or skin show, of course it is there, but it is more of a content-based film. The story is beautiful and I have done a lot of action. I didn’t use a body double as the action director planned everything well and it all went smoothly,” she adds. Talking about her past controversies, she says, “I did it all to get a platform. I think this was the perfect way for me to get attention. And it really worked out for me. I was successful and that’s how I got the film offer too,” she says.
“Everyone wants to be in the news. Many people hire PRs to be in the news and I am doing my own. I would love to be in the news,” adds the actress.
Poonam says that she is also working hard these days. “I want to tell people to take me seriously now. Give me some serious work and I will give you better work than everyone,” says Poonam, adding that she is confident that people will like her in the film.
Talking about the songs in Malini & Co, she says, “They are typical Telugu songs and I enjoyed running around trees.”
She adds that she did not have any language problems. “I can’t speak Telugu, but I can understand. The director, Veeru, used to tell me the meaning of the words during the shoot. It’s not difficult to understand,” she says.
Poonam adds that she is ready for item songs in Telugu films. “Why not? I am ready to do item songs. I love them,” she says, adding that she will announce her future projects after this film’s release.
