THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Muslim League leader K. P. A. Majeed raised the question of bureaucrats not complying with the orders of the ministers at Tuesday’s UDF meeting. However, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and finance minister K. M. Mani came to the rescue of the officials.
Majeed alleged that there are IAS officials who return the Cabinet decisions with queries. Mani replied that ministers can also get wrong in taking decisions and these officials are just doing their duty by pointing out their mistakes.
Chandy said there are only minor deficiencies. A peeved Majeed said if it had happened in their ministries, these officials would have been either shunted out from the departments or censured.
He reportedly told the meeting that the UDF would come to power, but it is these bureaucrats who are playing spoilsport.
