Arvind Kejriwal giving ‘political colour’ to his meeting with PM: BJP

Kejriwal met Modi on Tuesday and took up a host of issues

New Delhi: BJP on Tuesday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of giving "political colour" to his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggesting he should develop a working relationship with the Centre instead of indulging in "gimmicks".

Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay said Kejriwal was the sole non-BJP Chief Minister to have given a political statement right after meeting the Prime Minister, against whom the AAP chief has run a constant "personal campaign".

"The country has around 20 non-BJP Chief Ministers and many regularly meet the Prime Minister but we have never seen a Chief Minister giving a political statement after coming out as Kejriwal did.

"Kejriwal should first develop a working cooperation with the Centre rather than just playing the cooperation support gimmick before the media," Upadhyay said.

Kejriwal, who has said to have sought the Prime Minister's appointment earlier as well, met Modi today and took up a host of issues, including his government's tussle with Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, as he sought the Centre's cooperation irrespective of the differences in "political ideologies".

"Kejriwal must be aware that it was Prime Minister Modi who gave the team India Call to all Chief Ministers to come together and also raised the State's share of funds in the Central revenue including that of Delhi soon after coming to power," Upadhyay added.
