Vedhika gains strong foothold in tinseltown

Vedhika is excited to pair opposite Prithviraj in James and Alice directed by Sujith Vasudev

Vedhika, who is coming back to Malayalam films after Cousins through Sujith Vasudev’s directorial debut James and Alice, says she is excited about sharing screen space with Prithviraj for a second time after the Tamil flick Kaviyathalaivan.

“It was wonderful working with him on the sets of Kaviyathalaivan. He is such an intelligent actor! The way he treats his characters and gives them form is amazing. It was very comfortable working with him. However, since we weren’t paired opposite each other in Kaviyathalaivan and because we had a very tight schedule for the movie, we didn’t get much chance to bond.”

“I’m looking forward to it. It is a family entertainer that the audience will find easy to relate with,” she says. The film, expected to go on floors in October, is based on the ad filmmaking world and will portray the actress as a bank employee and the mother of a four-year-old. Prithviraj will play a painter-turned ad filmmaker.

However, she is more eager about her role in the Kannada film Shivalinga. “It is the most challenging role I have done so far. Ever since I signed the project I have been tense about how I will portray such an intense and interesting character and I had to go through a lot of preparations to get into the role. Getting to work with P. Vasu sir is a great honour. But I have been asked to keep my character details under wraps and it’s sad that I can’t share the grandness of the role,” she sighs.

Vedhika has also been roped in to play the female lead for Vinoth Jayaraj’s upcoming film produced by Prabhudheva. She will be paired opposite Varun, actor/politician Isari Velan’s grandson.

“It is again a performance-oriented character and working in a Prabhudheva production is exciting. It will be a fun new-age film. I am lucky to get such good roles which offer me the scope to explore my acting capabilities,” she adds.
