Allu Arjun not coming, Nivin, Pallavi likely

Sources said that the chief guests for the event would be revealed by Monday evening

ThIruvananthapuram: The proclamation procession on Monday will mark the beginning of the week-long Onam week celebrations in the state capital.

However, the Tourism Department has landed in a fix as their efforts to bring South Indian star Allu Arjun to grace the inaugural ceremony of the most awaited annual cultural extravaganza organised by the government has failed.

Sources say that efforts are on to bring in popular faces including Sai Pallavi of Premam fame and Nivin Pauly to grace Onam week celebration.

Sources said that the chief guests for the event would be revealed by Monday evening. “We have not got the confirmation yet. Premam fame actress Sai Pallavi, actor Nivin Pauly are some of the celebrity stars we are trying to bring in,” a source said.

Tourism minister A.P. Anil Kumar will flag off the proclamation procession from the Sports Council headquarters.

The procession will end at Kanakakunnu Palace at 6 pm. While, Health Minister V S Sivakumar will switch on the illuminations on the occasion, Cultural Minister K C Joseph will hoist the Onam flag.

A meeting chaired by Onam cultural procession committee chairman Varkala Kahar MLA will be held on Monday to finalise the annual cultural procession which marks the ending of the week-long Onam celebrations.
