Tiger jumps cage in Hyderabad's Nehru Zoological Park

The cage is about 15 metres away from the reptile enclosure, which was milling with visitors

Hyderabad: A Royal Bengal tiger which jumped from its cage in the city zoo created panic on Saturday. In just a few moments, the tiger, called Kadamba, entered its old enclosure and was tranquilised.

The cage is about 15 metres away from the reptile enclosure, which was milling with visitors, and is separated by a 6-foot fence. The tiger did not turn in that direction.

Around 11 am, the tiger, aged 11, was moved from its enclosure to another cage for mating. The cage, made of chain link mesh, is just about 10 feet tall which a large animal can easily jump over. The cage did not have a roof.
