Mohi happened overnight for me: Vinita Joshi

She talks about her journey on the small screen

Vinita Joshi who plays the lead character in Star Plus’ Mohi talks about her journey on the small screen and how she loves everything that has to do with showbiz. Excerpts from an interview:

When did you know that you wanted to be an actor?
It was during my graduation. Thankfully I had family support all throughout my journey. I started going for auditions and tried my luck at a lot of places. Finally I bagged the role of in the show Navya, as the lead’s best friend. After that I started getting recognised and got many other roles.

How did Mohi happen?
Mohi happened overnight for me. They took my audition for the screen test in the afternoon and the following evening I flew to Kerala for their outdoor shoot, which was already scheduled. So it was a swift process and I am glad it was that way.

Have you taken any formal training in acting?
Not really. But for the role, I did have to undertake formal training. Since the language spoken on the show is not regular Hindi, I had to work with a tutor to get my accent right. We didn’t want to upset anybody by doing a bad job of it. Also, since my character is very physically active, I had to undertake some physical training.

What has been your best memory of the show so far?
We have shot a chunk of the show in Kerala to keep it authentic. I miss those shoots, as I feel I have grown as an actor because of the Kerala shoot.

What according to you are the pros and cons of being in this industry?
The pros are obviously the fame and name this industry has to offer. The journey in this industry is adventurous and the best part is that one gets to travel to shoot at exotic locations. Your fans follow and admire you. According to me, there are not many cons as I love being an actor. But it’s a lot of hard work and not a typical 9 to 5 job. Here you might have to do the same scene over 50 times to get it correct.
