Karnataka Lokayukta corruption case: 10th accused held

The SIT officials arrested Narasimha Rao from Hyderabad early Friday

BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials probing the Lokayukta corruption case have arrested 10th accused in connection with the case. The SIT officials arrested Narasimha Rao from Hyderabad early Friday. He is said to a close relative of prime accused Ashwin Yerabati.

The police probing the case filed by KPCC member and industrialist P.N. Krishnamurthy had found the role of Narasimha Rao in the case. A team was sent to Hyderabad to nab him. Rao was arrested while he was at his friend Venkateshwar Rao’s office in Adarsh Nagar near Lakdi Ka Pul area in Hyderabad around 1.15 am on Friday.

After informing the local police about the arrest, the SIT officials brought him to the city in the morning. He was taken to Bowring Hospital from medical check up in the morning and produced before the Lokayukta Special court around 4.30 pm.

As the police requested that they need his custody for interrogation, Judge V.G. Bopaiah remanded Rao in police custody till August 26. The police also told the court that he was accused number five in the complaint filed by Krishnamurthy and he has been arrested on charges of introducing the complainant to prime accused Ashwin and demanding money from him.
