Police came to know that a gang from Karnataka is following a businessman to rob him

Hyderabad: A gun wielding gang of suspected robbers opened fire at Jubilee Hills while they were being chased by a police crime party and injured a Metro Rail worker of Thursday afternoon. The police could catch one person along with his firearm, while the two other armed offenders escaped on a bike. The injured victim was rushed to hospital, while the Commissioner’s Task Force Teams are searching for the absconding robbers. The chase started after Police came to road number 36 receiving an information that the gang from Karnataka was following a businessman to rob him.

The incident occurred after 2 pm near Neerus Emporio at road number 36. “Cops in mufti were chasing a gang of bikes. They were coming on wrong side. One of them fell on the road, and while the cops were trying to catch him he took out a gun and opened fire,” said an eyewitness from the spot.

“We heard gunshots coming from outside. When I looked outside, scuffle was going on between few men, and one of them had a gun. Later we came to know, it was a fight between cops and robbers,” said Dhanraj, Manager of Neerus.

The L&T employee named Dharmendra Singh sustained injuries on his shoulder as the bullet pierced through. He has been shifted to a hospital by the police.

Commissioner’s Task Force officials said that the gang came to Hyderabad five days ago, and the cops were trying to nab them. “We got an information today that they were at Jubilee Hills. Our crime party followed them to nab them. One of them opened fire to escape from the team, but we caught him. We are searching for the others, who escaped,” said Task Force Additional DCP Mr. Koti Reddy.
