No alliance with AIADMK, DMK, says Ramakrishnan

CPI leader R. Nallakannu cautioned that they should be patient while devising strategies
Chennai: Ruling out any electoral alliance with the Dravidian parties, CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Monday said that People’s Welfare Front is the real political and ideological alternative.
Addressing a conference on formation of coalition government organised by VCK to celebrate its chief Thol Thirumavalavan's 53rd birthday here, Mr Ramakrishnan said that an electoral alternative alliance could be formed only through joint struggles.
“BJP is no alternative to Congress in the Centre. Similarly DMK is not an alternative to AIADMK in the state. Hence the real political and ideological alternative is the five parties led People’s Welfare Front,” he said.
The Marxist leader ruled out alliance with AIADMK and DMK citing charges of corruption, compromise in fight against untouchability and anti people economic policies. “It is not enough to state in general about formation of a coalition government. We should tell with whom and how,” he asked. He said that people are longing for an alternative politics and ideology.
However, Veteran CPI leader R. Nallakannu cautioned that they should be patient while devising strategies. “They should not allow minor differences to split he alliance. We should be united like Pandavars and victory will be ours,” he said.
MDMK general secretary Vaiko went a step further to claim that the People's Welfare Front would form the next government. “Some people are asking whether we will be united till the end. We will remain together and form a coalition government,” he said.
VCK general secretary D. Ravikumar said that his party is propagating the idea of coalition government as it is the only way to empower marginalised sections of the people. With this view, he said Thirumavalavan took efforts to form a five combine. “This front will change the political history of the Tamil Nadu,” he said.
