This photo series of disabled animals will leave you smiling and teary-eyed

Some of these animals are sick pets, some rescued from abuse

Australian photographer Alex Cearns wants to show the world that all animals are beautiful – irrespective of their physical capabilities – and deserve to be loved and cared for. Through her touching photo series Perfect Imperfection, Cearns has captured portraits of different animals – from cats and dogs to birds, and even one goat – with various physical disabilities.

Her special photo project aims to celebrate the intrinsic beauty of animals, who have overcome hardships and adapted to a physical handicap.“I love every animal I have the privilege of photographing, but those perceived as ‘different’ hold a special place in my heart,” says Cearns, as reported by the Metro.

Some of the animals featured have been victims of abuse while some have been physically impaired because of accidents and disease. She dedicates this photo series to her favourite animals Savannah and Rowdy who are no longer alive.

Looking at these animals, full of cheer and life despite their difficulties will surely melt your heart.
