New facilities soon for old age home inmates: M K Muneer

The government is giving top priority for the welfare of the senior citizens

KOZHIKODE: The inmates of the old age home at Vellimadukunnu will get new facilities with the inauguration of the first phase of the gender park in January 2016, said Dr M. K. Muneer, Minister for Panchayats and Social Justice. He was inaugurating the ayurveda medical camp jointly organised by the Calicut Press Club and the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore, at the old age home here on Friday.

He said the 20-acre campus will be given a facelift in the first phase. “Once it is ready, the residents need not confine themselves to the room. They can walk freely on the campus. Walkways will be prepared and benches will be set up at various points on the campus,” he said. The government is giving top priority for the welfare of the senior citizens.

“The Vayomithram project has been implemented for the purpose. The government is planning an integrated medical treatment that combines modern medicine, ayurveda and homeopathy,” Dr Muneer said.

District Collector N. Prasanth and Kerala Social Security Mission executive director Dr T.P. Ashraf attended the function.

Calicut Press Club vice-president M.P. Prashanth presided and Arya Vaidya Pharmacy deputy general manager Dr Shaju Thomas welcomed the gathering. Area sales manager K.N. Sabish Raj proposed a vote of thanks.
