Chopper pilot Rajeev Hoskote laid to rest

Rajeev is survived by his parents Manjunath and Vani Sri, brother Rakshith and sister Ramya

Mysuru: The family members and relatives of Pawan Hans pilot Capt Rajeev Hoskote, who died in a helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh, bid him a tearful farewell at a crematorium near the foot of Chamundi hills here on Friday morning. Rajeev is survived by his parents Manjunath and Vani Sri, brother Rakshith and sister Ramya.

A number of relatives and friends had gathered at Rajeev’s house on Ramanuja road here. They were all distraught when the body arrived in an ambulance from Bengaluru at 11.30pm on Thursday. His parents had gone to New Delhi on Monday to bring back the body. “He was soft natured, very friendly and loved by all relatives and friends.

He was very intelligent and the youngest pilot in Pawan Hans,” said Venkatesh Prasad, one of his relatives. Rajeev was pursuing Engineering in Mysuru, but switched over to HAL for training, as he was passionate about flying.

He joined Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd in 2014. The chopper went missing on August 4, the wreckage and the bodies were traced only a week later by a team of Indian Air Force men in Sangliam village.
