Road renamed after veteran journalist Ramachandra Aadithanar

Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Saturday announced that the Fourth Main Road at Adyar Gandhi Nagar will be named after veteran journalist Ramachandra Aadithanar as a tribute for his contribution towards society and media.
In a statement, she said B. Ramachandra Adityan carved a niche for himself in field of journalism and played a crucial role in reviving the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank during its bad phase.
I ordered Chennai Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy to take necessary steps so that the name of the road can be rechristened. Subsequently Chennai corporation in its recent council meet adopted a resolution favouring the name change. A government order in this regard would soon be passed and I will personally unveil the street name board shortly, the statement said.
Ramachandra Adityan who died in October 2013 was the managing editor of Tamil eveninger ‘Malai Murasu’ and was the eldest son of media baron C Pa. Aadhithanar.
She also condoled the death of 11 police personnel who died while on duty in various districts.
She announced Rs 3 lakh to each of the three police men who died in a car accident at Marakkanam recently. She also announced relief from the Chief Minister relief fund for eight other uniformed staff.
